How a Canty Construction Project Works

From the first call to the final report, most projects take one to three weeks, and the work itself usually takes one to four days. Here is what happens at each step and what you can expect from us.

Most projects
1–3 weeks start to finish

1. Call or request online

Tell us what you are noticing, the age of the house and the city. If you have a home inspection report, send the relevant pages. We schedule an inspection, usually within a few business days.

2. Inspection inside both spaces

A technician goes into the attic and the crawl space, not just looks in from the hatch. The inspection takes 45 to 90 minutes and covers:

AreaWhat we check
AtticInsulation type and depth, rodent activity, sheathing condition, moisture, ventilation, exhaust ducts, visible wiring, air leaks
Crawl spaceGround cover, moisture readings on framing, standing water, floor insulation, rodent activity, ducts and pipes, vents and access
ExteriorRodent entry points, vent covers, downspouts and grading near the foundation

3. Photo report

Usually the same day or the next, you receive a report with captioned photos, moisture readings and findings ranked by urgency: what needs attention now, what should be done before winter and what can wait.

4. Written proposal

Each item of work is a separate line with its own price, so you can see what each fix costs and choose what to do now. Optional items are marked optional. The proposal states the materials, the R-values or liner thickness, the expected duration and the warranty.

5. Scheduling and preparation

Once you approve, we schedule the work. If an electrician, pest control company or asbestos inspector needs to go first, we sequence that and keep you informed. Before the work day, we confirm access, parking and anything that needs moving from near the attic hatch or crawl space access.

6. The work

  • The path from the door to the access is covered with drop cloths and plastic
  • Insulation and vacuum equipment stays outside; only hoses come in
  • The crew wears protective gear and works under containment where contamination is present
  • At the end of each day, the work area is cleaned and the access closed

7. Closing report

After the work, you receive a second photo report showing the same locations after the job, the insulation certificate where it applies and any notes for future maintenance.

8. Follow-up

For rodent exclusion, we return after seven to fourteen days to check for activity. For encapsulation, we check the humidity readings after the first few weeks. If something is not right, we fix it.

Payment

A 25% deposit reserves your work date. The balance is due when the job is finished and you have the closing photo report. We accept checks, ACH bank transfers and all major credit cards.

Warranty

All work carries a written workmanship warranty, with the term stated on each proposal. Manufacturer warranties on materials such as liners, pumps and dehumidifiers are passed through to you.
