Shoreline Attic and Crawl Space Services
Most of Shoreline was built in the two decades after World War II: modest one-story homes and early ramblers in Ridgecrest, Briarcrest, Echo Lake, Parkwood and Richmond Beach, with some older houses scattered among them. Seventy-plus years on, their attics and crawl spaces have seen several rounds of partial fixes and are ready for a complete one.
Layers of old insulation
Shoreline attics often contain two or three generations of insulation: original rock wool or vermiculite, a layer of fiberglass batts added in the 1970s or 1980s, and sometimes blown material on top. Mixed layers hide what is underneath. If any vermiculite is present, it has to be tested before anything is disturbed. If it tests clean, or if there is none, we can usually remove the oldest layers and start over with a clean, sealed attic floor.
Seattle City Light territory
Shoreline gets its electricity from Seattle City Light, not Snohomish County PUD or PSE. City Light has run weatherization programs for insulation and air sealing in homes heated with electricity. Homes heated with gas from PSE fall under PSE's programs instead. We check which one applies.
Postwar crawl spaces
The crawl spaces under Shoreline's postwar homes are often low, with original wood posts on concrete blocks and very little ground cover. We look for wood-to-soil contact, a common source of decay and insect activity, and correct it as part of a vapor barrier job where it is minor. Significant post or beam deterioration is referred to a structural contractor.

Shoreline questions
Our house is electrically heated with baseboards. Does that matter?
It affects which utility programs apply and how much attic insulation pays back. Electrically heated homes often see the most noticeable change in heating bills after sealing and insulating.
How far is Shoreline from your office?
